Scorched

Burning desire, to hold you tight again.
To breathe in that sweet smell of yours.
To whisper the words of love.
To be kissed by your moist lips again.

A desire in flames, scorched.
By the fumes of your harshness.
By the taint of your words.
By the pinching pain of your absence.

I am stuporing, drugged by your love.
Harshness doesn't seem to wake me up to reality.
Life is a Puzzle of hatred and love for you.
Simultaneously! How could it be?

Tired of enticing you.
So impertinent!
Your valour of your disgust on me.
A man's ego torched my dreams.

Scorched is my heart.
Charred are the feelings.
Eternal bliss is a blemish.
Feelings let on loose, feeling so vulnerable.

  1. It is a hard place to be in, for the one in this poem. Confusing, too, when love turns bewilderingly, to not-love. You have captured the emotions so well.

  2. Sometimes one can have a love-hate relationship with a person. Your last two lines in your third verse refer to this. It is not uncommon, though uncomfortable and often disconcerting. Glad you see you at Poetry Pantry; and hope you will find it to be poetry home and that you will seek to meet other poets!

  3. Hello.
The sword of pain can sometimes pierce the heart, but the beauty of love will make it whole again. Very nicely expressed. I like your imagery too.
    Thanks for sharing.

You are invited to join me on Tuesday June 26th for the second Lovers' Cove Challenge. Continue the story in 30 words or less, BUT the challenge is to write on in thought from the previous person in the Linky. The prompt has already been posted, but Linky won't open until Tuesday.
